3 Day Komodo Kayak Tour Itinerary

Day 1 - Meet the team, paddle the seas, savor the sunset

We’ll meet at 09:00 at our office in Labuan Bajo for a “Welcome to Komodo” meeting. After sizing up equipment we depart into the seas where the Pacific and Indian oceans meet. We will get acquainted with the equipment, each other and the warm tropical waters. We paddle along uninhabited white sand beaches,  have a great picnic lunch, paddle or snorkel again, snacks, paddle or snorkel more…or relax on deck or in your cabin. Our guides and boat crew are there to support you. Dinner as the sun sets over the islands of Komodo National Park. Evening under the equatorial stars and sleep in cabin.

Day 2 - Paddle remote bays, soak in tropical waters,

This day will be a great start with an early morning paddle/swim for those that want (or sleep in longer!) Followed by a hearty breakfast on our way to the Dragon Trek. Here, a park ranger will join us, safely guiding us to the spots for viewing Komodo Dragons in their native habitat. We should be able to experience their life cycle – with nest, juveniles and adults. After this we return to the boat for more paddling, and a journey to our next spot. Here we find amazing mangroves and bays to paddle away from the crowds. In the evening we should be lucky enough to see the vast colonies of Flying Foxes overhead as they head out to eat. Sleep in your cabin on the boat.

Day 3 - Viewpoint, Pink Beach, kayaking and farewell

We have breakfast as we head to one of the most famous viewpoints in Komodo and, after a brief trek, we should have time at the most requested photograph in the Park. After wards a visit to one of the only Pink Beaches in the world. More great food and we slowly make our way back to Labuan Bajo. We should arrive in time for the evening departures, or we will gladly arrange drop-off at your hotel.

FAQ

Is it Safe?

Absolutely. The Komodo Islands, where we operate, provide a sheltered island group with infrequent large swells. Although there are fascinating whirlpools in certain areas, they are easily navigable. Our sea-kayaks are sleek and extremely stable, equipped with standard safety features. The Komodo Kayaking guides have extensive experience in kayaking, working in, and exploring wild places, ensuring effective risk management and emergency medical care. We have lived here our entire lives – we know the waters, and the risks. One of our Komodo Kayaking guides will always accompany you during kayaking, and we also have a support boat and radio contact with the Park Rangers office for added safety measures.

What is Sea Kayaking like?

Sea-kayaking is an incredible way to embark on wicked adventures and explore the world around you. It’s an affordable and eco-friendly activity that doesn’t require extensive training or exceptional strength. It’s not just good for your body, but also nourishes your soul. Sea-kayaking can transport you beyond civilization and into the enchanting realm where earth, sea, and sky converge.

Is Kayaking In Komodo Challenging? Do I need to be in great shape to do this?

No prior experience is needed to get started. As long as you’re in good health and possess a sense of adventure, you’ll quickly master the skills required to paddle and steer your kayak. Our experienced guides will provide an introductory lesson at the beginning of the journey and will be there to assist and ensure everyone’s safety and happiness throughout.

What are the group sizes?

To minimize our impact on the places we visit and enhance our daily experiences, we keep our groups small, with a maximum of 8 participants per group

Is there more to do than just Kayaking - will I get bored?

The list of activities is endless! You can relax in hammocks, indulge in reading, try your hand at fishing, swim in the pristine waters, explore beautiful beaches, interact with locals, hike through forests, bird-watch, capture stunning photos, play beach volleyball and coconut petanque, dine under the starry sky, share stories, witness breathtaking sunsets, strum guitars, gaze at the stars, and enjoy restful sleep. You’ll find an array of experiences to cherish!

Will we be camping?

No – Camping is illegal inside Komodo National Park. Aside from the potential risks to guests, there is also the risk of fire and waste contamination, so it is not permitted. You will stay onboard our custom built kayak boat in comfort.
