Picture a scene of utter serenity—calm waters stretching out before you, gentle clouds reflected on the mirror-like sea, and the fresh morning air enveloping you. This is the setting for our 3-day Komodo kayak Tour. As you glide through the water, leaving behind the stresses of work and emails, you’ll find your body and mind completely refreshed and relaxed. It’s a feeling of pure bliss, a true escape from the ordinary.
We’ll meet at 09:00 at our office in Labuan Bajo for a “Welcome to Komodo” meeting. After sizing up equipment we depart into the seas where the Pacific and Indian oceans meet. We will get acquainted with the equipment, each other and the warm tropical waters. We paddle along uninhabited white sand beaches, have a great picnic lunch, paddle or snorkel again, snacks, paddle or snorkel more…or relax on deck or in your cabin. Our guides and boat crew are there to support you. Dinner as the sun sets over the islands of Komodo National Park. Evening under the equatorial stars and sleep in cabin.
This day will be a great start with an early morning paddle/swim for those that want (or sleep in longer!) Followed by a hearty breakfast on our way to the Dragon Trek. Here, a park ranger will join us, safely guiding us to the spots for viewing Komodo Dragons in their native habitat. We should be able to experience their life cycle – with nest, juveniles and adults. After this we return to the boat for more paddling, and a journey to our next spot. Here we find amazing mangroves and bays to paddle away from the crowds. In the evening we should be lucky enough to see the vast colonies of Flying Foxes overhead as they head out to eat. Sleep in your cabin on the boat.
We have breakfast as we head to one of the most famous viewpoints in Komodo and, after a brief trek, we should have time at the most requested photograph in the Park. After wards a visit to one of the only Pink Beaches in the world. More great food and we slowly make our way back to Labuan Bajo. We should arrive in time for the evening departures, or we will gladly arrange drop-off at your hotel.
Absolutely. The Komodo Islands, where we operate, provide a sheltered island group with infrequent large swells. Although there are fascinating whirlpools in certain areas, they are easily navigable. Our sea-kayaks are sleek and extremely stable, equipped with standard safety features. The Komodo Kayaking guides have extensive experience in kayaking, working in, and exploring wild places, ensuring effective risk management and emergency medical care. We have lived here our entire lives – we know the waters, and the risks. One of our Komodo Kayaking guides will always accompany you during kayaking, and we also have a support boat and radio contact with the Park Rangers office for added safety measures.
