Family Kayaking is a short and beginner friendly kayaking experience based in Labuan Bajo, Flores. This trip is designed for travelers who want to enjoy the sea, learn basic kayaking skills, and explore calm coastal waters without traveling far from town.
Unlike longer expeditions inside Komodo National Park, this experience stays close to the mainland and follows sheltered waters that are suitable for first time kayakers and mixed age groups. The pace remains relaxed, with regular breaks and full support from our guides throughout the session.
Before entering the water, participants join a short orientation covering basic paddling techniques, safety procedures, and kayak handling. Afterward, the trip continues with a guided paddle around the coastline and nearby small islands.
This experience is open to solo travelers, couples, families, and small groups. Because the trip uses stable sea kayaks and calm conditions, it is suitable even for participants with no previous kayaking experience.
What to expect :
This is a sharing trip with a maximum of 8 participants.
To maintain safety and quality instruction, we keep groups small and manageable. Children aged 10 years and older may join the trip. Participants under 10 years old require direct adult supervision.
This experience is suitable for beginners and non kayakers.
Safety remains our highest priority during every trip.
Our guides are trained in first aid, CPR, and kayak safety procedures. Before launching, all participants receive a complete briefing covering paddling basics, safety equipment, and communication on the water.
We carefully choose routes based on weather and sea conditions to ensure a safe and enjoyable experience for all participants.

Our sea-kayaks are sleek and extremely stable, equipped with standard safety features. The Komodo Kayaking guides have extensive experience in kayaking, working in, and exploring wild places, ensuring effective risk management and emergency medical care. We have lived here our entire lives – we know the waters, and the risks. One of our Komodo Kayaking guides will always accompany you during kayaking, and we also have a support boat and radio contact with the Park Rangers office for added safety measures.
